Incertitudes – EXEMPLARY: 150 Years of the MAK – from Arts and Crafts to Design
The exhibition EXEMPLARY: 150 Years of the MAK – from Arts and Crafts to Design sparks an inspired and inspiring confrontation between the long-standing history of the MAK collection and contemporary design avant-garde. Tying in with EXEMPLARY’s unique presentation, nine internationally acclaimed design mavens participated in an experiment exploring the significance of the MAK collection as both a source of inspiration and a venue for envisaging everyday life in the future.

Ying Gao is the creator of one of these “exemplary” projects: for Incertitudes she uses acoustic sensors in outfits which react to voices and sound with movement. The movement is generated electromechanically via a double layer of fabric and creates an aesthetic that is equally reminiscent of art, fashion, and technology.
